Better information on the amount of waste generated during a voyage, the waste management practices on-board of ships and on the amount of waste discharged in ports, would help regulators, ports and waste handlers plan for the reception and delivery of waste. The objectives of this study are: 1. To provide a detailed review of the waste practices and management of ship-generated waste on-board on the range of ships visiting EU ports. 2. To provide average quantities of different types of waste being generated on-board of ships. 3. To provide a comprehensive review of the present technologies and methods being used to reduce SGW produced by ships.
