Several methods can be used to assess the extreme stress in the structural members or the fatigue damage, depending on the loads to be considered and the type of response to compute. This Guidance Note describes various methods and tools that can be used for the direct calculations of the hydro-structural response of ships and floating or fixed offshore units. The main purpose of the present Guidance Note is to present several approaches to perform a long-term analysis and to provide the associated theoretical background. This Guidance Note mainly focus on the tools and background of the long-term analysis itself, however it also provides information on environmental conditions and hydro-structure models.
