Description: This little book does not lay claim to originality, nor is it exhaustive, inasmuch as the subject dealt with leaves consider- able scope in either direction. Marine meteorology must, of necessity, depend upon international effort ; and, at the present time, every maritime nation devotes a portion of the public fundstotheinvestigationofmatterspertainingthereto. Ship- masters in the ocean-carrying trade who co-operate with the United States Hydrographic Office, and preserve the monthly Pilot Charts of the North Atlantic and the North Pacific issued by that Department, have in their possession the very latest information, culled from every possible trustworthy source, with respect to marine meteorology. Unfortunately, only a very small percentage of the world's merchant officers are thus favourably situated.
