Description: Practical navigation is a part of applied mathematics where we are concened with the position of a vessel on the Earth. We usually wish to know the position of the ship, the course to steer and the distance to go to reach our next required position. The vessel will be out of sight of land and so coastal navigation techniques will not suffice.
Remember, in navigation, if you are using any tables or almanac to read the introduction and explain how to use them. The same applies to the use of a calculator. Practice makes perfect.
ln the first lesson we will discuss basic concepts such as difference of latitude and longitude and then move on to "The Sailings".
