A container ship, a fishing boat and a barge have sunk in the Andaman Sea off the coast of Phuket, Thailand, in the last 48 hours, according to Bangkok Post.
The Cambodia-flagged container ship Sinaran Andaman sank yesterday after strong waves driven by monsoon winds pushed it onto a rocky shoreline of the Koe Island.
Royal Thai Navy airlifted all 10 crew members from the sunken Sinaran Andaman.
Two hours prior to the sinking of Sinaran Andaman, a longline fishing boat Anya Namchoke and its six crewmen capsized off Koh Racha Noi island. All six men were airlifted by the Thai Navy.
Thai naval and marine forces are still looking for six men who have been missing since Tuesday after their barge carrying construction material sank on 4 am Tuesday, local time, while en route from Phuket to Koh Racha Yai island.
The boxship and the barge reportedly both suffered engine failure prior to sinking.
