Extreme Engineering - контейнеровозы / EXTREME ENGINEERING - CONTAINER SHIPS Жанр: Обучающее видео Продолжительность: 45 min. Перевод: Отсутствует Описание: Imagine driving across a bridge near the North Pole, leaving Alaska at one end and arriving in Siberia at the other end; or visiting a city built within a pyramid in Tokyo Bay; or speeding from New York to London in just an hour through a tunnel under the Atlantic Ocean. These are just some of the projects that come to life as builders and engineers design and construct the largest, most outrageous and awe-inspiring projects ever conceived. Jaw-dropping computer animation breathes life into such fantastic, yet possible creations. CONTAINER SHIPS These men and women are modern-day Vikings. A thousand years ago, their ferocious forefathers struck out across unknown seas in tiny ships of wood to find adventure. Today, their descendants embark on another quest on the high seas. These Danish ship builders are attempting to turn the mass of steel beneath their torches into a monster container ship, a vessel that, when completed, will blow the rudders off the worldwide cargo shipping industry. When she's done, this ship will look more like a skyscraper than a sea-going vessel. It will be able to hold 4,000 containers, each 40 feet long, 15 feet wide and 12 feet high. She will push the outer limits of what can be built with today's materials and technology. She will also have the biggest engine in the world, a 93,000-horsepower diesel power plant that, at full speed, will put out as much thrust as all the Indie 500 cars of the last 5 years revving full-throttle at once.
