Description: Colos is a loading calculator system to realize all problems within the scope of the loading process according to the requirements of the IMO and of practice (fleet).
Colos is very good for the use

Already more than 340 ships have been equipped with the system. The interactive dialog, the wide range of advantages offer by the application functions and flexibility in the adaptation to various types of ships, guarantees a quick familiarization by the user without the need for formal training. Colos offers continuous extensions and modification of the range of features with the various applications. The software application was jointly developed wit professors who have decades of experience in the area of ship operations technology.
All hard- and software components are tested and certified by different authorities.

1. Introduction
This software product is developed for planning cargo operations under consideration of draughts, trim, stability and stress. The cargo can consist of container, bulk, timber, break bulk and special goods (e.g. project cargo). The program is related to the individual ship to which one it is programmed for.
The program is built up in modules which can be opened by clicking on the appropriate menu or sub menu button shown on top in the main window. In the following chapters the module functions will be described.
2. Hardware System Requirements
To run the program satisfactory the following minimum hardware and system parameters are required:
- IBM compatible Computer Pentium II and higher,
- screen dissolution with 800 x 600 and higher,
- operating system Windows 9x and higher,
- DirectX – software for the operating system (newest version on Install-CD),
- Printer with 300 dpi,
- Graphic card with 16 Bit colour depth in the dissolution.
3. Program Installation
A. from CD-ROM:
Put the CD in the CD-ROM drive of your PC. Copy the file “INSTALL.exe” from the CD on your PC. Double click on this EXE-file and extract it on your PC under C:\ ! Create a shortcut on your desktop related to the file “colos.exe” in folder “C:\colos_win”.
B. Updates by E-Mail Attachment:
First delete from the folder ”archiv” under “C:\colos_win” the sub folder “light ship”. Then save the folder “archiv” to a floppy disk or CD-ROM! This folder contains all your existing load cases!
Then delete the folder “colos_win” with all sub folders from your PC.
You have received a file named “INSTALL.eee” via E-Mail (Land/INMARSAT).
Copy this file to your PC and rename it from “INSTALL.eee” to “INSTALL.exe” (this is necessary because Antivirus Software will not allow EXE-files as attachments!). Then follow the advices given under A. concerning the program installation!
Copy back the saved folder “archiv” to “C:\colos_win” by overwriting the existing folder “archiv”.
4. Input of Data
Required inputs can be done either by mouse click on the spin buttons (up/down) right of the numeric field or by typing in the figures (either numbers or letters) directly via keyboard. When clicking in the numeric field it will appear brown with a yellow frame around. Now inputs via keyboard can be done and have to be completed by pressing the “Enter-Key”.
Concerning the mouse there are three steps available! Each click on one of the spin buttons (up/down) increases/decreases the figures when using the
left mouse button in 0.10 unit steps,
right mouse button in 1.00 unit steps,
middle key or wheel in 10.0 unit steps.
To scroll text or the like by the spin buttons (up/down) you can use any mouse button.
Function buttons can be activated by clicking on them. As soon as you move the mouse cursor over such a function button it will appear with a yellow frame. Permanent set “active” buttons will appear yellow on the screen.
5. Display/Output of Data
Whenever you make entries which change the displacement or the centre of gravity of the vessel all calculated values concerning draughts, trim, stability & stress etc. will change simultaneously! As soon as required limits will be exceeded the relevant figures will be displayed in red colour!
Whenever you click on the sub menu button “list” (this button will appear in various modules) you have the possibility to make print outs e.g. of the tank status!
To scroll the display on the screen operate the mouse cursor in the white field, press the left mouse button while dropping down the mouse.
To change the display press the appropriate function buttons e.g. “ballast water” etc. Activated buttons will appear permanent yellow. You can press one up to all buttons. To change between the pages if there are more than one use the spin buttons (up/down) on top in the right corner.
The amount of print copies you may choose by the spin buttons (up/down) left of the “print” button down in the right corner. After pressing on this “print” button the printer status will be displayed in the numeric field.
6. Main Window
After starting the program by clicking on the COLOS start button on the PC’s desktop the main window appears on the screen.
This window is showing the head line, indicating the ship’s name, call sign, current name of load case, the date and time, the buttons to switch between the English and German language and to end the program.
Below the head line the eight (8) main menu buttons (“special”, “tanks”, “free input”, “container”, “bulk/grain”, “special cargo”, “timber”, “function”) are visible.
By clicking on one of the eight main menu buttons further sub menu buttons will appear on the screen.
On the right third of the main window three separate display fields are visible. The contents of the upper two fields can be changed by a click on the right mouse button in the appropriate field. The following display variations are available:
“certificate of stability”, “position afloat”, “tank graphic”, “shear forces & bending moments”, cross & torsion moments”, “blanc” or “grain stability”.
The lower right field is self explaining. The version number of the program is indicated in this field in the right lower corner (B74150704 - important if problems occur and service is required).
The big and blanc main field displays the different program functions when clicking on one of the main or sub menu buttons.
The field below is also self explaining. All described fields are permanent visible nevertheless witch program functions dependent on the choice of menu item are shown in the big field.
7. Menu and Sub Menu buttons
To switch between the different program modules (functions) you have to press one of the menu buttons. If you do so sub menu buttons will appear on the screen. The description of all this buttons (program functions) will follow below.
7.1 special
If you press this button five sub menus will appear on the screen!
7.1.1 stores (constant)
If you press this button the main window will change to the below shown display. This function can be used to put in the “stores” better the “constant” of the vessel. You can find out the approximate weight of the constant by carrying out a draught survey (see chapter 7.1.4 draft survey).
The coordinates for the longitudinal centre of gravity you may find out in this menu by changing “l.c.g” with the spin buttons (up/down) until the displayed draughts in this window fit to your own readings before starting the draught survey calculation.
The blue bar shows the longitudinal distribution of the weight adjustable by the spin buttons (up/down) right of “x-aft” and “x-forward”. This input is compulsory for all non standardized weights other than tanks or container to calculate the stress of the vessel.
The green cross indicates the centre of gravity of the whole vessel. The brown one is related only to the “stores” or “constant”.
You can change the l.c.g.- basis from aft perpendicular (ap) to main frame (ms) by pressing the appropriate function button in the main window. In case of (ms) minus indicates aft of main frame plus before main frame. In case of (ap) minus indicates aft of aft perpendicular.
7.1.2 seaworthiness
If you press this button the main window will change to the below shown display.
This function is necessary to print out all stability and stress diagrams/values to file them for a later prove!
How to do the scrolling and print out, see chapter 5. Display/Output of data.
7.1.3 covers
If you press this button the main window will change to the below shown display.
By this function you can adjust your hatch covers, tween deck pontoons and bulk heads as necessary. For this purpose you have ten (10) different possibilities of adjustment (has to be done one time!). To switch between this different versions use the spin buttons (up/down) right of “version”. The displayed “version” (here: 01) is always active concerning the calculation of stability, stress etc. By this mean you can estimate the change of initial stability concerning hatch completely/partly open or closed while monitoring the output field “GM” when switching between the appropriate versions.
To switch between the covers/pontoons use the spin buttons (up/down) right of “cover-no”. The related cover/pontoon appears yellow.
To open/close, change position or discharge/load the covers/pontoons/bulk heads use the spin buttons (up/down) right of “position”. The tween deck pontoons no. 3 & 4 and 9 & 10 can be used as bulk heads and can be placed in positions “A” to “E”. Maximum two bulk heads can be adjusted! The adjusted bulk head(s) will automatically appear when pressing the “bulk” button!
7.1.4 draft survey
If you press this button the main window will change to the below shown display.
By this module you can carry out an “Initial” and “Final” Draft Survey.
7.1.4.1 Initial Draft Survey:
At first adjust all weights you report to the draft surveyor e.g. tanks etc. also in this program. After having taken the actual drafts at the six marks together with the draft surveyor start this module and set all displayed drafts on zero by clicking on the “delete” button. Then click on the “start” button relating to the first measurement. Theoretical the displayed drafts should be the same as your own readings if the vessel has no deflection and constant and if all single weights are adjusted properly before in this program. Practically there will be differences between the displayed drafts and the actual drafts taken!
To find out now the constant of the vessel adjust the theoretical drafts by overtyping them with your own readings. In the demo the difference = constant is 43,7t!
7.1.4.2 Final Draft Survey
Adjust all weights e.g. cargo, tanks that have been changed during loading. If the constant is not changed during loading (no disposal of sludge etc.) type in the value determined by the initial draft survey in the module “stores” otherwise type in the corrected one.
Take the actual readings of the draft marks together with the surveyor. Then click on the “start” button relating to the second measurement. Theoretical the displayed drafts should be the same as your own readings if the vessel has no deflection and if all changed weights are adjusted properly before in this program as reported to the surveyor.
Practically there will be small differences between the displayed drafts and the actual readings! After overtyping the displayed drafts by the actual readings the difference should be around zero.
In all cases do not forget to adjust the correct density of water! As soon as you have activated the second measurement by clicking on the “start” button you can not make any changes in the first measurement (function buttons are blocked!).
A print out from the first and second measurement including all changes in weights can be done as described in chapter 5. .
7.1.5 ship total
If you press this button the main window will change to the below shown display.
By this function you can print out (see chapter 5.) a summary of all weights, drafts and initial stability values.
By clicking on the button “co-ordinates” the centre of gravity in x-, y- and z- direction will be displayed on the screen and printed.
By clicking on the button “moments” the product out of weight and x-, y- or z- co-ordinate will be displayed!
7.2. tanks
If you press this button three sub menus will appear on the screen!
7.2.1. input
If you press this button the main window will change to the below shown display. Furthermore it is recommended to arrange one of the two side fields as “tank graphic”.
The upper part of this window shows the summary of all tank groups on board the vessel. The related one is marked by a brown colour. To change between the groups click in the desired group.
The middle part of the window shows all tanks within the group indicated by tank no. and filling rate. Turquoise colour means a filling rate 98% up to 100%; red colour a filling rate <98% down to >2%; white colour a filling rate 2% down to zero.
The blue letter “F” indicates that nevertheless which filling rate is adjusted the maximum moment concerning free surfaces is active for stability calculations.
The yellow frame indicates to which tank the lower part of this window is related to. In the lower part you can make entries by spin buttons (up/down) or by typing in for tank fillings dependant on weight, volume, capacity or level always in connection with the correct density.
The buttons “full” or “empty” enable you to fill or empty a tank completely.
The “fr.sf.” button enables you to set the free surface calculation “variable” or “fixed” = maximum.
There is no possibility to fill up or empty all tanks in one group by one mouse click!
The “tank graphic” window shows you the actual position of each tank according the individual tank plan of the vessel including the colours for the above explained filling rates. It will automatically change when you click on another tank group.
7.2.2. journal
If you press this button the main window will change to the below shown display.
By this function you can print out (see chapter 5.) a summary of all tanks concerning level, weight, volume etc. By clicking on the desired tank group button (active ones for print outs will appear yellow) you can add or remove a group.
The journal shows in the column “last using” also date and time of changes concerning a certain tank.
7.2.2. list
If you press this button the main window will change to the below shown display.
By this function you can print out (see chapter 5.) a summary of all tanks concerning weight, c-ordinates respective moments etc. By clicking on the desired tank group button (active ones for print outs will appear yellow) you can add or remove a group.
By clicking on the button “moments” the product out of weight and x-, y- or z- co-ordinate of each tank will be displayed!
By clicking on the button “co-ordinates” the centre of gravity of each tank in x-, y- and z- direction will be displayed on the screen and printed.
7.3 free input
If you press this button two sub menus will appear on the screen!
7.3.1. input
If you press this button the main window will change to the below shown display.
By this module you have the possibility to put in up to 32 different single weights. The adjustment of weight, gravity, co-ordinates etc can be done by the spin buttons (up/down) or by direct input via keyboard as explained in chapter 4.
The blue bar shows the longitudinal distribution of the weight adjustable by the spin buttons (up/down) right of “x-aft” and “x-forward”. This input is compulsory for all non standardized weights other than tanks or container to calculate the stress of the vessel.
The green cross indicates the centre of gravity of the whole vessel. The brown one is related only to the single weight.

7.4. container
If you press this button eight sub menus will appear on the screen!
7.4.1. input
If you press this button the main window will change to the below shown display.
7.4.1.1 loading
By clicking on this button it is possible to load container either by the spin buttons (up/down) or directly by keyboard as described in chapter 4.
Procedure:
1. Click on the desired bay displayed in the longitudinal profile of the vessel - the reference bay will appear green.
2. Choose the container size by activating the appropriate button by mouse click (compulsory to transfer all info of each single container to the layer plan = “bird view”, tier wise).
3. Activate the desired info button concerning weight etc. by mouse click and make your entries.
4. Click in the desired container stowage place to load the container.
It is possible to load the whole hold and on deck tier by tier by clicking on the shown button .
The default setting for “(vertical) centre of gravity” is 0,50m). It can be changed by the spin buttons (up/down) in 0,05 m steps. Be aware that all stability calculations are based on this setting! Be careful if you want to adjust values less than 0,45m !!
The colour of the letter codes for loading/discharging port and owner can be changed/added/deleted by starting the program setting by clicking on the appropriate symbol in the folder “C:\colos_win”.
7.4.1.2 change info
By clicking on this button you can change all specific data of each single container except the container size!
Procedure:
1. Make sure that all info buttons are deactivated (blue colour). All default entries as done in “loading” are displayed in yellow letters.
2. Select the button(s) you want to change the entries.
3. Make your new entries as described above.
4. Click in the desired container from which you want to change the data. Here after mouse click the colours (loading/discharging port) have been changed.
7.4.1.3 display
By this function you can display all data from each single container by operating the mouse cursor in the desired container.
7.4.1.4 move to
By this function you can move = shift a single container from one stowage place to another one.
Procedure:
1. Select the container to be shifted by mouse click (a green frame will be displayed).
2. Click in the new stowage place (a yellow frame will be displayed).
3. Repeat the mouse click and the container has been shifted.
7.4.1.5 delete
By this function any container can be deleted by clicking on it.
7.4.2 bay plan
If you press this button the main window will change to the below shown display.
By this function you can print out the container stowage plan bay wise respective according the desired port of departure = loading port (pod) or port of arrival = discharging port (poa).
7.4.3 letter plan
If you press this button the main window will change to the below shown display.
By this function you can print out (see chapter 5.) the container stowage as overview showing all bays as cross section according the desired port of departure = loading port (pod) or port of arrival = discharging port (poa), reefer or imo criteria.
If there is no colour printer available you can switch over to black/white print out (see appropriate button).
7.4.4 layer plan
If you press this button the main window will change to the below shown display.
By this function you can print out (see chapter 5.) the container stowage plan as overview = bird view tier wise according the desired port of departure = loading port (pod) or port of arrival = discharging port (poa).
If there is more than one page you can select one up to all pages for the print out by mouse click on this buttons.
7.4.5 search/delete
If you press this button the main window will change to the below shown display.
By this function you can search or delete container as selected by the different criteria buttons. To select the criteria for search/delete function click on the button until it will appear yellow or use the spin buttons (up/down).
If you click on the “search” button container that fulfil the selected criteria will appear as a yellow square.
If you click on the “search” and then on the “delete” button container that fulfil the criteria will be deleted and disappear from the screen.
7.4.6 loading list
If you press this button the main window will change to the below shown display.
By this function you can search container as selected by the different criteria buttons for a print out. To select the criteria for search/delete function click on the button until it will appear yellow or use the spin buttons (up/down).
If you click on the “search” button container that fulfil the selected criteria will be listed by amount and total weight. This list can be printed as described in chapter 4.
7.4.7 summary
If you press this button the main window will change to the below shown display.
By this function you can print out (see chapter 5.) a summary according the selected search criteria. By mouse click selected criteria will appear yellow.
If you click on the “search” button container that fulfil the selected criteria will be listed as shown above. This list can be printed as described in chapter 4.
7.4.8 list
If you press this button the main window will change to the below shown display on the next page.
By this function you can print out (see chapter 5.) a summary of all container selected by size.
By clicking on the button “moments” the product out of weight and x-, y- or z- co-ordinate of each item will be displayed!
By clicking on the button “co-ordinates” the centre of gravity of each weight in x-, y- and z- direction will be displayed on the screen and printed.
7.5 bulk/grain
If you press this button three sub menus will appear on the screen!
7.5.1 input
If you press this button the main window will change to the below shown display on the next page.
The bulk heads can be set in the menu special, submenu covers. The bulk heads if positioned will appear in the longitudinal section in this menu (here: bulkhead in position A and E).
All necessary entries concerning the bulk cargo can be done by the spin buttons (up/down) or directly by keyboard (see chapter 4.).
The cargo hold or hold sections can be completely filled/emptied by the appropriate function buttons “full” / “empty”.
The related cargo hold section will appear with a yellow frame. You can switch between the sections by mouse click.
If you activate the function button “no grain” to “grain” the SOLAS requirements concerning stability for grain cargoes will be activated. The total grain heeling moment will be displayed on top of the window.
“grain list [ ° ]” means the list of the vessel because of asymmetric distribution of weights (should be around zero) and not because of shifted grain.
Attention: The minimum heeling moment per hold section can only be generated by filling the hold section via the capacity input  100%.
(SOLAS distinguishes between “full” and “partly filled” holds. The difference is the angle of shifting of the grain surface: full = 15° / partly filled = 25°. The smaller angle reduces the heeling moment! A filling rate of 99,999…9% means already the bigger angle = 25%.)
Furthermore an additional button with the functions “free surface” / “secured surface” will appear on the screen.
If “free surface” is activated for a hold section the grain heeling moment according the filling rate will be calculated and displayed.
If “secured surface” (e.g. by bags or tween deck covers or the like) is activated the heeling moments will set to zero.
The special grain stability can be selected in one of the two upper side windows. But it will only appear if the button “grain” is active!
7.5.2 grain stability
Attention: This button will be displayed only if for a hold or hold section the button “grain” is active!
If you press this button the main window will change to the below shown display on the next page.
By this function you can print out (see chapter 5.) the “grain stability”.
7.5.3 list
If you press this button the main window will change to the below shown display.
By this function you can print out (see chapter 5.) a summary of all holds concerning bulk/grain, co-ordinates respective moments etc..
By clicking on the button “co-ordinates” the centre of gravity of each hold section in x-, y- and z- direction will be displayed on the screen and printed.
By clicking on the button “moments” the product out of weight and x-, y- or z- co-ordinate of each hold section will be displayed!
7.6 special cargo
If you press this button two sub menus will appear on the screen!
7.6.1 input
If you press this button the main window will change to the below shown display.
By this special module (function) it is possible to simulate the loading/discharging procedure of any kind of heavy lift cargo. In the following these special program functions will be explained thoroughly.
7.6.1.1 creating a heavy cargo piece (collo)
A collo can be created (defined) via the below displayed input functions:
Procedure:
1. Select the position (“weatherdeck”, “tweendeck I – III” or “tankdeck”) via the spin buttons (up/down).
2. Describe the collo by filling out “marking” via keyboard (see chapter 4.) or select an already defined collo (there are 100 pieces possible) via the spin buttons (up/down).
3. Select the place for loading/unloading (“ashore SB or ashore PS”, “weatherdeck”, “tweendeck I – III” or “tankdeck”).
4. Make inputs for “weight”, “length”, “breadth” and “height” of the collo e.g. according loading list.
Attention: asymmetrical inputs by spin buttons for the centre of gravity is possible (up/down). The real position of the centre of gravity is indicated by a red line.
5. Make an entry for the “distance collo-shell” by the spin buttons (up/down) or directly by keyboard (here: 3m; that means 3m distance between the hull and the longitudinal side of the collo on the berth; the reason for this may be a fender with a diameter of about 1m and a restriction for heavy loads at the end of the berth of 2m!, in any case ask the harbour master to find out the correct figures!).
6. Adjust the “lcg” and “tcg” value of the collo by the spin buttons (up/down).If you change now the t.c.g. value it is not possible to move the collo closer than 3m to the vessel

7.6.1.2 loading a heavy cargo piece (collo)

Procedure:
1. Adjust the maximum initial stability by using the appropriate modules (e.g. tank module etc.)
2. Adjust the heeling tanks in the menu “tanks”.
3. Select “crane1”, “crane2” or “both” by clicking on the appropriate function button.
4. In case of “both” adjust by spin buttons (up/down) the “traverse length” can also mean the longitudinal distance between the hooks if the collo is connected directly to the cranes e.g. by wires without using a traverse = crossbar.
5. In case of “both” adjust the “traverse weight” plus weights of wires etc. by using the spin buttons (up/down).
6. Display the working area of the cranes by clicking on the button “working area”.
7. Adjust the correct lcg and tcg value by the spin buttons (up/down).
8. Click on the button “lift” (according the inputs for “traverse length” and the collo data the crane jibs will move over the real centre of gravity of the collo.
When the “lift” button is activated it is not possible to change the inputs except “distance collo-shell”!
9. Lift up the collo by using the spin button (up) until the vessel gets a slight list by watching the display for “crane list”. (Do not exceed 3°  figures become a red colour; more than 5° is not allowed  whole field becomes a light red colour!)
The weight of the collo is displayed right of the slash! The weight loaded/discharged is displayed left of the slash!
10. Activate the heeling tanks by clicking on them and transfer ballast by using the spin buttons (up = transfer to PS/down = transfer to SB) until the collo is loaded (will jump to the rope wheel at the jibs’ ends!). Watch the display for “crane GZ (10°)” and “crane list” and trim “trm”. If you get out of range the colour(s) will change to red.
11. Move the collo to the final loading position by using the four (4) direction buttons. Transfer ballast to keep the vessel upright.
12. Lower down the collo (here: on the tankdeck) by using the spin button (down) and deactivate the “lift” button to release the collo.
The heeling tanks can also be operated single by using the spin buttons (up = fill/down = empty).
If the SWL of each crane is exceeded the button “crane 1” and/or “crane 2” will appear in a red colour.

7.6.2 list
If you press this button the main window will change to the below shown display.
By this function you can print out (see chapter 5.) a summary of all cargo pieces (colli) concerning weight, co-ordinates respective moments etc..
By clicking on the button “co-ordinates” the centre of gravity of each collo in x-, y- and z- direction will be displayed on the screen and printed.
By clicking on the button “moments” the product out of weight and x-, y- or z- co-ordinate of each collo will be displayed!
7.7 timber
If you press this button three sub menus will appear on the screen!
7.7.1 input
If you press this button the main window will change to the below shown display.
By this module you can load any kind of timber on deck and in the cargo hold. The necessary entries can be made by the spin buttons (up/down) or directly by keyboard (see chapter 4.). By pressing the button “hold” you can switch between “deck” and “hold”.
The timber cargo will be displayed in longitudinal, cross and bird view.
An example for “hold” and “deck” with different kinds of timber is shown below on the next page.
7.7.2 stowage plan
If you press this button the main window will change to the below shown display.
By this function you can print out (see chapter 5.) a stowage plan separate for “hold” and “deck” showing all details of the different kinds of timber.
7.7.3 list
If you press this button the main window will change to the below shown display on the next page.
By this function you can print out (see chapter 5.) a summary of the timber cargo concerning weight, co-ordinates respective moments etc..
By clicking on the button “moments” the product out of weight and x-, y- or z- co-ordinate of the timber cargo will be displayed!
By clicking on the button “co-ordinates” the centre of gravity of the timber cargo in x-, y- and z- direction will be displayed on the screen and printed.
7.8 function
If you press this button two sub menus will appear on the screen!
7.8.1 archive
If you press this button the main window will change to the below shown display on the next page.
By this function you can load, overwrite or delete an existing load case by using the spin buttons (up/down) to scroll through the stored cases. For each stored load case a summary of weights, drafts, trim, stress, stability etc. is given in the white window. After selecting the desired load case press the button “apply” to load it or “overwrite” or “delete” it on the hard disk of your PC.
By clicking on the button “co-ordinates” the centre of gravity of each weight in x-, y- and z- direction will be displayed on the screen and printed.
By clicking on the button “moments” the product out of weight and x-, y- or z- co-ordinate of each weight will be displayed!
7.8.2 baplie in
If you press this button the main window will change to the below shown display.
By this function you can add a container stowage plan prepared ashore to your container module.
Procedure if you receive a floppy disk:
1. Put the floppy disk with the “baplie” or “edi file” prepared by your operator in the floppy drive of your PC and press the button “baplie in”. Your PC automatically will detect the file(s).
2. If there is more than one load case stored on the floppy disk select the correct one by using the spin buttons (up/down).
3. Press the button “apply”.
4. If necessary scroll through the container list by using the spin buttons (up/down) in the right corner of this window.
The display will appear as follows:
5. Press the button “stow” to connect the stowage plan with your vessel.
Procedure if you receive the file(s) via Inmarsat, CD-ROM or memory stick:
1. Copy the file(s) to a floppy disk or directly on your PC to “C:\colos_win\baplie in”.
2. Follow the instructions above.
8. End the program and save the load case
If you want to end the program press the ESC button on your keyboard or in the upper right corner of your monitor.
The display will show a new window.
If you press “NO” the program is ended without saving the load case. (Nevertheless the load case is stored on your PC and will appear after starting the program – important when you have a black out – but it is not 100% safe!)
If you press “YES” the window will appear as follows:
Now you have the possibility to create a new load case by typing in the name in the brown field or to overwrite the existing one by selecting it via the spin buttons (up/down).
After the existing load case is displayed press the button “overwrite” to save it.
9. Practical advices to use this program
In case you will receive an update of this program it is necessary to delete the old version from your hard disk.
Before you do so you must save all your load cases if you want to use them furthermore. All load cases are stored in “C:\colos_win\archiv”. Each load case is stored here as separate folder. These except the “light ship” one you must shift to another place of your hard disk or you must save it on CD-ROM or memory stick.
If you keep “light ship” out of the old version this may cause problems if you overwrite the automatically installed new “light ship” folder of the new version by the old one.
Not to loose your individual settings concerning “free input” and “covers” it is necessary to create for example a “light ship basic” and save it always on floppy disk, CD-ROM or memory stick etc. before installing a new version or generally the program for example after “format C:\” of your hard disk because of hard disk problems (viruses etc.).
