The Law of the Sea Manual is a joint work of the Armed Forces of the Navy, the Legal Advisory of the Navy Headquarters and the Centre for International Humanitarian Law Studies of the Spanish Red Cross and has as its main purpose the facilitation and improvement of knowledge of international maritime law by the officers of the Navy. In addition, as a contribution to scientific literature in the matter, this work can be useful to the rest of the public administrations with competence in the maritime domain, scholars and specialists in the law of the sea and ultimately to the Spanish maritime community. It is worth highlighting the added value of this text for its outstanding present, profusely treating aspects of recent and emerging scenarios and recurrence, such as transnational organized crime or the protection of the underwater cultural heritage and the marine environment. Finally, it should be noted that this manual is not born with doctrinal vocation, but merely represents the vision of its authors.
