Expert observers from other governments, and observers from intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations, also attended the meeting. The good spirit of cooperation among all participants paved the way for developing consensus on a new, comprehensive and practical code that will help to raise the profile of safety and health issues in shipbuilding and ship repair in all parts of the world, and contribute to the health, morale and well-being of workers in the industry.
