Description: This Code of Safe Working Practices is intended primarily for seamen on Cyprus registered vessels which goon international voyages, or, for fishing vessels, operating outside Cyprusterritorial waters. It is not intendedfor seamen on pleasure craft, or ships which do not go on international voyages, although the guidance in itmay be of use to them also.
Copies of the current edition of the Code must be carried on all Cyprus ships mentioned in the first sentenceabove, and a copy must be made available to any seamanin the ship who requests it. This Code is addressedto everyone on a ship regardless ofrank or rating because the recommendations can be effective only if theyare understood by all and if all co-operate in their implementation. Those not them selves actually engaged ina job in hand should be aware of whatis being done, so that they may avoid putting themselves at risk orthose concerned at risk by impeding or needlessly interfering with the conduct of the work.
