Information regarding the accuracy of depth information in Electronic Navigational Charts (ENC), and how mariners should interpret that information, forms a chapter of the Mariner’s Handbook for Australian Waters. However, this information is also likely to be useful to mariners and maritime training organiZations that do not require the accompanying regulatory and procedural information contained in other chapters.

It addresses a number of misconceptions amongst mariners regarding the accuracy of bathymetry within ENC, and the impact that accuracy should have upon route planning and conduct.
