Year: 1972 Language: english Author: Arne Frederik Haug Genre: Technical book Publisher: Food & Agriculture Org Format: PDF Quality: Scanned pages Pages count: 54 Description: This publication was made in the 70's by the UN for third world countries. The boats are caravel planked (square edge planks) and they tell you to use tar or the equivalent of wildwood between the planking. They are all flat bottom utility types with no cabins or superstructure. Might be a good first build for somebody who doesn't yet have a lot of boat building skills or tools. Plywood sheathing would also work well as the designs have few complex curves. All boats are low HP outboard (20 max for the largest) designs. Would be a good place to start for a first boat, or one to leave at the cottage, hidden in the weeds at your favorite lake, or even as a decorative one hanging in then rafters of your cabin. Lots of ideas. Also has plans for two flat bottom "canoes" with transom sterns that look like oversized pirogues.
