Description: This is a booklet on the British and German battlecruisers of the WW I era. The text describes the design development histories of the various classes of ships. The text is accompanied by numerous black and white photos and a few line drawings of the ship longitudinal profiles but no deck plans. There are short tabulations of dimensions and displacements; unfortunately, these tabulations do not include subjects such as armament, armor thicknesses, and machinery horsepower and speed. Those subjects are discussed in detail in the text. There is a subsection on “War Service” for each class in which the ship’s battle actions and damage incurred or sinking are described. The booklet also includes the last German battlecruiser classes of 1915 – 1918 which were designed, and in some cases started construction, but were never completed.
