Ample margins are provided in both the main text and reading sections to facilitate note-taking. In addition, a set of classic practice exercises is included to strengthen learning outcomes. Chapters 1, 2, and 8 were written by Xie Jieying; Chapter 3 by Pan Jie; Chapters 4 and 12 by Hu Shenping; Chapter 5 by Wang Zhiming; Chapter 6 by Ruan Wei; Chapters 7 and 11 by Li Fei; and Chapters 9 and 10 by Jin Yongxing. Zhang Jinpeng, Yang Zhilong, and Chen Yuli participated in the revision. The book is edited by Jin Yongxing and Xie Jieying, and reviewed by Professor Shi Chaojian and Alexander F. Hickethier, an American instructor specializing in maritime navigation technology. This book is highly targeted, professional, and practical. It has been revised based on teaching experience from the past two years. It can be used not only as a textbook for maritime navigation students and for training candidates preparing for seafarer competency examinations, but also as a reference for maritime professionals and personnel engaged in maritime administration and related fields. Due to the authors’ limited knowledge and experience, errors and shortcomings may be unavoidable. Readers’ valuable comments and corrections are sincerely welcomed.
