* Republic of Korea (ROK) shipbuilders have gained many orders previously. ROK shipbuilders are confident of winning new orders in the second half of 2019 (2H19), especially after a China-built LNG carrier was scrapped after only 2 years of service.
* ROK shipbuilders won 61 orders for LNG carriers in 2018, about 86% of the world total;
* most ROK shipyard space for new LNG carrier builds is fully booked up to 2021;
* Qatar Petroleum is expected to make separate orders for 40 to 60 new LNG carriers for Qatar's North Field offshore gas field expansion. Orders from Qatar Petroleum are expected to be given starting in September 2019, following invitations to bid early in 2019;
* Samsung Heavy is expected to win orders for 15-24 ice-breaking LNG carriers, in partnership with Russian shipbuilder Zvezda, for the Novatech Arctic LNG-2 field;
* Hyundai Heavy and Daewoo Shipbuilding are hoping to win orders from US Anardarko Petroleum for its LNG field in Mozambique.
