Owner and operator of gas carriers Golar LNG has signed a sale and leaseback contact for a 140,000 cbm LNG carrier with CSSC (Hong Kong) Shipping Company.
Under the deal, signed on November 13, CSSC Shipping would acquire the vessel at a price of USD 147 million.
The unit, scheduled for delivery by March 2020, would be chartered back to Golar LNG at a total charter cost of USD 159.6 million.
The charter period was agreed at 36 months from the delivery date.
CSSC Shipping, the financial leasing unit of China State Shipbuilding Corporation, informed that the LNG carrier would be converted into a floating storage re-gasification unit (FSRU).
