han sido estas últimas las causantes de un mayor número de bajas entre
los marineros. Porque cuando se está embarcado, no sólo pueden ocurrir
accidentes, sino que pueden aflorar enfermedades, que además pueden
ser rápidamente trasmisibles y pueden conducir a una situación límite.
Con el avance en las nuevas tecnologías (teléfonos satelitales)
todos los buques que lo precisen, pueden ponerse en contacto con el
Centro Radiomédico Español (CRME) y solicitar consejo médico.
Porque no sólo el Centro Radiomédico es el pilar de la Telemedicina
que se presta diariamente y las veinticuatro horas del día, a los trabajadores
del mar que están trabajando en cualquier punto del planeta. Otro
pilar esencial que la hace posible, es la formación que se imparte a sus
tripulantes y a los responsables sanitarios a bordo, que cuentan con
una Guía Sanitaria actualizada y completa como es la que se presenta en
este libro.
Gracias a sus contenidos actualizados y que abarcan cualquier tipo de situación
sanitaria a bordo, los tripulantes que se embarquen pueden estar
seguros de tener una herramienta esencial que les permitirá afrontar
cualquier evento médico, desde una herida con anzuelo, una amputación
o una reanimación a vida o muerte.
Esta Guía Sanitaria a Bordo, es una revisión con los mismos contenidos
pero actualizados, de los que soportaban las ediciones anteriores. En
ella, han participado múltiples compañeros del Instituto Social de la Marina.
Aunque es inherente a la formación presencial que también imparte
el ISM, puede servir por sí misma, como el mayor respaldo para cuantos
tienen que resolver un problema médico en la distancia. Gracias a su
exposición de contenidos, clara y sencilla y al contenido de los botiquines,
así como al respaldo telefónico, nadie que faene en alta mar, se
sentirá desprotegido sin saber cómo actuar.
La crisis sanitaria de la covid-19 ha puesto de manifiesto la gran importancia
de la telemedicina con la que se puede realizar una consulta en
tiempo real, actividad que viene realizando el CRME desde hace muchos
años, manteniendo una comunicación rápida, eficaz y permanente. Por
esto, en la presente actualización se ha añadido información científica
del coronavirus, así como las recomendaciones de las autoridades sanitarias
para la realización de RCP en tiempos de la pandemia, tanto en
adultos como en niños.
