The State of Maritime Piracy 2020: Assessing the Human Cost

Year: 2020
Language: english
Author: Lydelle Joubert
Genre: Research papers
Publisher: Stable Seas & One Earth Future
Format: PDF
Quality: eBook
Pages count: 34
Description: In 2020, the outbreak of COVID-19 had a profound impact on the shipping industry. Thousands of seafarers, unable to disembark for crew changes, were trapped at sea. However, for the most part, COVID-19 had minor impacts on the number of incidents of maritime piracy and armed robbery of ships. The State of Maritime Piracy 2020 marks the eleventh year that One Earth Future Foundation has assessed the human cost of maritime piracy, evolving from a project of Oceans Beyond Piracy to a flagship report of the Stable Seas program. In the future, this report will live on as a project of the new and independent Stable Seas foundation.
