* Viet Nam seaports handled more than 81 million tonnes of goods in First Half 2019 (1H19), up 16 per cent on 1H18;
* in June 2019, Viet Nam shipping fleet was 1,568 ships of 7.8 million DWT;
* average ship age is 15.6 years (5.2 years younger than the world average);
* number of container ships has doubled in six years, from 19 ships (2013) to 39 ships (2019);
* total fleet has shrunk slightly, from 1,600+ (2013) to 1,568 (2019).
