Description: This book is aimed to the scholar, the scientist and the seaman who wishes to deepen his knowledge of the tide phenomena, and in general for everyone interested in prediction of tide level for the purpose of marine navigation, hydrography and coastal planning and development. The author first review some basic concepts, then describes, in Chapter 2, the different tide monitoring technques, focusing on issues of mesurement accuracy. In subsequest chapters, offers an in-depht discussion on the tide-generating forces, tidal height variations, and analytical techinques used for tide forecasting. Tidal datums and streams are covered in chapters 9 and 10. Five Appendices at the end of the book support comprehension of the astronomical factors involved in tide phenomenon, forces, stilling wells, harmonic constituents of the tide, and harmonic analysis.
