MAINTENANCE WELDER JOB DESCRIPTION:
Under supervision, does electric arc and oxy-acetylene welding in all positions on both light and heavy material so as to maintain the proper size, contour, fusion, penetration and strength ot welds and to prevent undercut, overlap and slag inclusions in welds; performs related work.
EXAMPLES OF TYPICAL TASKS:
Reads and works from blueprints, sketches and working drawings. Properly uses the various types of welding rods and machines. Pre-heats and cleans metals. Lays out, cuts and fits materials for welding. Welds machinery and equipment. Brazes various non-ferrous metals. Brushes and grinds welds.
SCOPE OF THE WRITTEN TEST:
The written test will be designed to test for knowledge, skills, and/or abilities in such areas as:
1. Principles and practices of welding;
2. Maintenance and repair of tools and equipment;
3. Mechanical aptitude; and
4. Arithmetiical reasoning
