Description: This Guidelines for Onboard CO2 Capture and Storage Systems (hereinafter referred to as the
“Guidelines”) applies to onboard CO2 capture and storage (OCCS) systems installed to reduce
atmospheric CO2 emissions from reciprocating internal combustion engines, boilers, gas-fueled
engines, gas-fueled boilers, etc. that CO2 is captured by chemical absorption method using amine
solutions or membrane separation method, and the captured CO2 is stored in liquid.
in this revision, the functional requirements for CO2 capture and storage
system were rearranged, and requirements common to CO2 capture technology using the chemical
absorption method and the membrane separation method were extracted and generalized. As a
result, general-purpose requirements that can be applied regardless of the technology type were
constructed. This Guidelines will serve as a reference for those who
plan, design, construct, and operate vessels equipped with onboard CO2 capture and storage
systems.
