Description: This Bulletin contains two documents relating to the site-specific assessment of mobile jack-up units. These documents have been produced by a joint industry-funded project (JIP). They have been published by SNAME for the benefit of naval architects and marine engineers involved with the world-wide assessment of mobile jackup units.
The first document is T&R 5-5 and is referred to as a "Guideline". This document describes a general approach to site assessment which should be applied.
The second document is T&R 5-5A and is referred to as a "Recommended Practice". This is the title selected by the JIP participants. However, T&R 5-5A must not be construed as a recommended practice proposed by SNAME. T&R 5-5A describes one example of a methodology that can be followed to achieve the intent of the "Guideline".
