Posidonia Special Issue: Greece is a maritime nation by tradition, with a rich history in the shipping industry. Shipping continues as the most significant industry in the Greek economy. The Hellenic Merchant Marine boasts the world’s largest merchant fleet in terms of tonnage which includes over 5,000 vessels engaged in commerce and transportation of goods and services across the globe. The Greek shipping industry works closely with marine industry stakeholders, universities, equipment manufacturers, ship designers and classification organizations to advance technology that improves efficiency and performance, while reducing environmental impact. SMM Special Issue: The Port of Hamburg, a pioneer in fully automated logistics, echoes the emphasis on technology for which the SMM exhibition is famous. As a whole, the German Shipping Community works closely with marine industry stakeholders, standards bodies, and classification organizations to advance technology that improves efficiency and performance while reducing environmental impact, in initiatives ranging from developing greenhouse gas-neutral forms of propulsion to introduction of alternative fuels. Gastech Special Issue: The Port of Barcelona has been a hub of international trade since it was founded as the Roman colony of Barcino some 2,000 years ago, when its chief business was export of building stones and highly-prized Spanish wines. Today, Barcelona is equally famed as an intermodal center and host of international trade shows such as Gastech 2018, a premier conference focusing on the gas industry and maritime companies involved in gas transport, where over 30,000 professionals meet to share insight on the latest innovations in the fast-moving world of natural gas and LNG.
