In the 80's Mystic Seaport Museum acquired very fine rigging drawings of the legendary schooner "America". They were unpublished and unknown.
This book is a passionate research upon a yacht that made the history of the America's Cup, based on the exhibit held at Mystic Seaport Museum, cosponsored by the New York Yacht Club. The book outlines the history of the schooner America and discusses it achievements in races and its use by the Navy in the Civil War. It is embellished with dozens of vintage oil paintings, engravings, photos and documents.
John Rousmaniere is a well known sailor with thousands of miles of blue water, ocean passages and sail races. He is also a writer on a wide range of topics: books on storms at sea, boating safety, yachting history and design, maritime photography and sailing manuals. Among others, "Fastnet, Force 10", "The Annapolis Book of Seamanship", "A Glossary of Modern Sailing Terms".
