(Agenda item 9) • NCSR 9 also finalised draft amendments to SOLAS Chapter XIV together with draft amendments to the Polar Code to mandate safety measures for non-SOLAS ships operating in polar waters. The amendments will extend the requirements for the safety of navigation and voyage planning to non-SOLAS ships, specifically fishing vessels, pleasure yachts and cargo ships of 300GT and upwards but below 500GT. The draft amendments will go to MSC 106 (Nov 2022) for approval and subsequent adoption and are expected to enter into force 1 January 2026. (Agenda item 6) • NCSR 9 finalised proposed draft amendments to SOLAS Chapter V, the Cargo Ship Safety Equipment Certificate, the Cargo Ship Safety Certificate, Form E and Form C, for the mandatory carriage of electronic inclinometers which are linked to the VDR, on container ships and bulk carriers.
