This publication contains the complete symbols, abbreviations and terms used on paper charts published by Instituto Hidrográfico de la Marina (IHM). This ublication applies to printed charts. Symbols and abbreviations shown on navigational display systems using electronic charts may sometimes differ from those described in this document. All New Editions published by IHM are based upon international specifications. Charts based upon older specifications will be gradually replaced. In nautical documents in force, the numbers of the symbols and abbreviations referred in INT 1 may still be prefixed with the letter “I” for International (e.g. IK 28 instead of K28).
