Year: 2020 Language: english Author: IMO Format: PDF Quality: eBook Pages count: 71 Description: The purpose of an IMO model course is to assist organizations that focus on maritime training with the development and introduction of new training courses. This also includes the updating and improvement of existing courses so that the quality and effectiveness of seafarers' training may be consistent internationally. It is not the intention of the model course programme to present instructors with a rigid "teaching package" which they are expected to "follow blindly". Nor is it the intention to substitute audiovisual or "programmed" material for the instructor's presence. As in all training endeavours, the knowledge, skills and dedication of the instructors are the key components in the transfer of knowledge and skills to those being trained through IMO model course material. The overall aim of this model course is to meet the mandatory minimum standard of competence for seafarers for the competence: Maintain a safe navigational watch, in particular bridge resource management in column 2 as specified in function of navigation at the operational level in table A-II/I of the STCW Code. Rather, this document should be used as a guide. Parties should modify this course to suit their respective training programmes. Edition 28 February 2020 [Replaced the IMO Model Course 1.22 "Ship Simulator and Bridge Teamwork"]
