Cargotec has, through Kalmar and MacGregor, won contracts to retrofit two ship-to-shore (STS) cranes in Egypt, and to provide equipment package for two 38,000 dwt bulk carriers currently under construction in China. Kalmar will retrofit both electrically and mechanically two STS cranes for Alexandria Container & Cargo Handling Co. (ACCHCO) at the Port of Alexandria, Egypt. The order was signed into Cargotec’s 2015 second quarter order intake, and the project is planned to be completed by the end of 2015. The value of the order is approximately EUR 3.5 million. The cranes, originally supplied by Cerretti Tanfany, have been operational since 1995. The cranes will be fully refurbished both electrically and mechanically, replacing the most critical components in order to extend the lifetime of the cranes. The works include the replacement of the current spreaders by Bromma spreaders that will be supplied as part of the retrofit works. MacGregor will supply equipment package for the two 38,000 dwt bulk carriers. The order was booked into second quarter order intake and includes the following: design and key components for hatch covers, deck cranes, electric deck machinery, steering gear, and an air compressor. -Source: worldmaritimenews.com
